The Northside tenants, organized by United Renters for Justice, have been tenacious in their demand for secure housing. Senator Tina Smith, and, recently, attended a Minnesota State Board of Investment meeting, asking a board that includes Gov. Tim Walz and attorney general Keith Ellison, to withhold business from one of Pretium’s investors. Inspection officials would like to clarify that the notice to vacate by March 4 does not mean people will be forcibly removed from their homes on March 4. Ellison’s complaint further states that despite realizing costs savings for investors, “Defendants did not reduce rent for tenants when they realized these cost savings — in fact they continued their policy of mandating significant rent increases .
